Cuil versus Google: A new challenger to Google’s Search Engine Dominance

Ex-Google engineers (Anna Patterson, Tom Costello, Russell Power and Louis Monier) have developed a new search engine – Cuil which promises to be a more comprehensive and efficient way to transverse the internet.

For starters, Cuil’s search index spans more than 120 billion Web pages. Cuil’s results are also presented in familiar magazine-style format instead of a top-down stacks of Web links.

  1. Google is a ad engine not the search engine of “yesteryears”… normal it’s a public company that needs revenue to satisfy its shareholders!

Cuil… I tried it the first day it came out… I was underwhelmed…

We need a search engine that ask a few smart questions and then refine the findings:
    FOR EXAMPLE:
Try a multiple choice question at the onset
    MEDIA news, lifestyle etc.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE gives you unbiased information about things you want to learn about
    BUYING tips and suppliers
    HELP solving problems…

A good search would NEVER MIX up the hard sell with the other categories. Right now search is all about selling and not much else… A shame really!
